What is the Right Temperature for Cannabis?

Reading Time: 4 Minutes

Smart Controlled: Temperature Management Made Easy

Controlling the ambient temperature is crucial for the health and growth of your plants. Temperature influences photosynthesis, respiration, soil life activity, and ultimately the potency and yield of the plants. The Timberjane Growbox ensures the optimal climate based on the growth stage of your plant. Cannabis plants prefer different temperatures depending on the growth phase.

During the light phase, a temperature of 22-28°C (71.6-82.4°F) is ideal, while in the dark phase, it should drop to 18-22°C (64.4-71.6°F).

Automatic Adjustments

Behind the Scenes

Thanks to the integrated technology of your Timberjane, you don't need to worry about temperature changes - the box takes care of that for you. At the air inlets and outlets of your grow box, both temperature and humidity are precisely measured. The control of the fans is automatic, aiming to always ensure the optimal conditions for temperature and humidity – and this at every phase of plant growth, from germination through growth and flowering to including drying. This intelligent regulation not only contributes to significant energy savings by not constantly running the ventilation at a fixed level but also reduces the noise level of the grow box.

Location

To achieve high efficiency and minimize noise, an air conditioner was deliberately not installed. As a result, the climate inside the grow box is partly dependent on the location of the box. For example, if the box is placed at a south-facing window, it can get too warm inside. In such cases, it is advisable to move the box to a cooler location. Fortunately, you don't even have to worry about that. If the intake air is too warm, your Timberjane will ask you via the app to relocate it. Should a location change not be feasible, there is also no cause for concern: The Timberjane Growbox is designed to react to such situations by adjusting the intensity and direction of the lighting to prevent overheating of the plants.

Compared to other grow solutions, the Timberjane Growbox has a significantly lower heating potential. The reasons for this and further details on Timberjane's innovative lighting technology can be found in the "Lighting" section.

Fun Facts:

  • Some cannabis strains tend to develop a purple coloration under cooler conditions.

  • Temperature not only affects growth but also the amount and ratio of cannabinoids and terpenes in the plant.

  • Historically, cannabis grows in a variety of climate zones, showing its remarkable adaptability to different temperatures.

  • By optimizing temperature, the grow box can reduce the water consumption of the plants, thus contributing to sustainability.
